Sadowski Named CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-American

LYNCHBURG, VA – Lynchburg College's Rachel Sadowski was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-American first team for Division III, as voted on by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

It is the second-straight season that Sadowski earned Academic All-American honors, as she garnered CoSIDA second-team accolades last season. She also was recognized as a NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) first-team Academic All-American last year. Those will be released in the coming weeks.

An environmental science major, Sadowski has a cumulative GPA of 3.97. This season the defender has two goals and four assists and has been a huge part of the Hornet defense allowing just 13 goals in 24 matches, good for a .582 goals against average and 26th best in all of Division III.

Lynchburg completed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) regular season with a perfect 12-0 record and won its fourth-straight ODAC Championship. The Hornets finished their season in the second round of the NCAA tournament with a 22-2 record, the most wins in school history.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his or her current institution and be nominated by his or her sports information director.
