Rachel Sadowski Earns First-Team Academic All-American Honors
LYNCHBURG, VA – Lynchburg College senior defender Rachel Sadowski was named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) first-team College Division Scholar All-American Wednesday, the second of her career.
Award winners able to attend are recognized at the NSCAA All-America Luncheon on Saturday, January 18, 2014, in Philadelphia. The event honors All-America players at the youth, high school and college levels. The luncheon is held in conjunction with the 67th annual NSCAA Convention, the largest annual gathering of soccer coaches in the world.
An environmental science major, she has a cumulative GPA of 3.97. Sadowski had two goals and four assists in 2013 and was a huge part of the Hornet defense that allowed just 13 goals in 24 matches, good for a .582 goals against average and 26th best in all of Division III.
Sadowski recently earned first-team athletic All-American honors by the NSCAA in addition to today's academic All-American award. The 2013 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year also received first-team recognition on the 2013 CoSIDA Academic All-American team, after claiming second-team accolades last fall. She was named to the All-ODAC, All-South Athletic Region, and All-State first-team squads in 2012 and 2013.
