Dessi Dupuy Heads in Game Winner to Give LC Women's Soccer Fifth-Straight ODAC Title

LYNCHBURG, VA – Senior forward Dessi Dupuy headed in the game's only goal Saturday to give the Lynchburg College women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Washington & Lee University in the finals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament. It is the fifth-straight conference title for the Hornets and the 13th in program history.

The Hornets had several good scoring opportunities in the first half, but couldn't find the back of the net. Emily Maxwell had a great opportunity with a header off a corner kick, but General defender Kelsey Jervis managed to get in the way and clear the ball. Dupuy had a good chance on a similar situation four minutes later, but W&L keeper Addie Healy made the save.

The second half was more evenly played, with Washington & Lee getting three shots on goal, but all stopped by Hornet keeper Tess Frelick. After nearly 76 scoreless minutes Lynchburg finally broke through, as junior forward Morgan Singer delivered a bicycle kick onto Dupuy's head for the game winner.

Lynchburg outshot the Generals 26-5 and held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Healy made nine saves for W&L (15-2-1). LC ties a program record with its 22nd win, set last season.

The Hornets (22-0) earn the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament. Lynchburg will find out its NCAA Tournament future Monday as the women's selection show will stream live at 1 p.m. ET here:
