Women’s soccer rolls by Thunder

Sarah Hammock scored her third goal of the season in Saturday's win over Wheaton.

Lynchburg, Va. -- Sarah Hammock (Virginia Beach, Va.) scored her second goal in as many nights, Kennedy Jakubek (Leesburg, Va.) notched an insurance goal, and the Lynchburg College women's soccer team cruised to its fourth win of the season, 2-0, over Wheaton College on Saturday night.

The victory gave Lynchburg the Shellenberger Classic title as the Hornets didn't allow a goal on their home turf in 180 minutes of play this weekend. LC goalkeeper Delia LoSapio (Raleigh, N.C.) saved all five of the Thunder's shots-on-goal.

- The Hornets first stung in the 27th minute when Hammock launched a shot at close range that was saved by Wheaton keeper Kathryn McGregor, and the LC junior chased down the rebound and scored it.

- Jakubek showed off fancy footwork in the 36th minute, dribbling through traffic and scoring past the diving keeper.
