HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets controlled the first half decidedly, out-shooting R-MC, 12-4, in the first 45 minutes of play. Yellow Jackets goalkeeper Edye Carr made three of her four saves to keep Lynchburg off the board.
Kent broke the tie in the 43rd minute when she ripped a long shot toward goal that was mishandled, fell to the turf, and spun into the net.
The Yellow Jackets added insurance in the 82nd minute after an R-MC player was fouled in the box on a counter-attack. Kent knocked the penalty kick in.
Senior forward Hannah Olds (Wilmington, N.C.) led the Hornet attack with two shots-on-goal.
Lynchburg's women will remain home this Saturday for an ODAC match with Emory & Henry. Action on Shellenberger Field begins at 1 p.m.
