LC Women's Tennis Drops Match to Southern Virginia 8-1

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's tennis team competed against a 10-5 Southern Virginia University team at home in a non-conference match-up on Thursday and lost by a score of 8-1.

Sophomore Hailey Bettencourt took the only win on the day for the Hornets against the talented Knight squad, capturing a #6 singles victory 8-2. Bettencourt also teamed up with freshman Madison Dixon at #3 doubles and played well as a team, losing a close one 8-6. Sophomore Betsy Stipa and freshman Melissa Drinkard competed in a tough spot at #1 doubles and lost 8-3, while sophomore Kelsey Bergen and senior Berry Morse teamed up and lost 8-3 at #2 doubles.

The Hornet women (4-10/2-7 ODAC) will be back in action on Saturday in their final game of the season when they will face off against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent Emory & Henry at home at noon.
