Roanoke Defeats LC Women 5-1

SALEM, VA – The Lynchburg College women's tennis team faced off against Roanoke College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play on Thursday and lost 5-1 away from home.

Senior Betsy Stipa picked up the only win for the Hornets on the day, defeating Kristin McDowell 6-3, 6-2 at #2 singles. Junior Melissa Drinkard won four games at #1 singles against Emma Barker. Freshman Carter Vaughn played hard at #4 singles and notched six games, while freshman Kelsey Krisik collected five games at the #5 singles spot.

Stipa and Drinkard were down 3-4 at #1 doubles against Emily Henderson and Barker, but the match was not finished. Matches at #2 and #3 doubles did not take place.

Lynchburg (2-9/1-8 ODAC) will look to improve when they get set to take on the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College in home ODAC matchup on Friday at 3 p.m.
