Women's tennis wins again on Hilton Head

Hilton Head Island, S.C. -- The Lynchburg College women's tennis team took an 8-1 decision over St. John Fisher in their third match of the Spring Tennis Fest Thursday afternoon at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort.

Sophomore Halle Lavieri (Killingworth, Conn.) and junior Sarah Wyly (Leesburg, Va.) set the tone with a quick 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles, and sophomore Christina Harris (Falls Church, Va.) and freshman Caroline Guill (Louisa, Va.) quickly followed, winning 8-2 at No. 1.

Harris continued to lead the way with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 1 singles, and Lavieri stayed in form at No. 2, winning 6-1. 6-0. Wyly gritted out a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 3.

The Hornets will wrap up their Spring Tennis Fest stay on Friday morning at 11:30 a.m. against Eastern Nazarene at Hilton Head Beach & Tennis.
