Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg athletics and director of men's and women's tennis Chris Johnson are thrilled to release the women's tennis team's 2019 spring schedule.
The Hornets' schedule includes six home matches and the team's annual Spring Break trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C., for the ever-competitive Hilton Head Invitational.
The Hornet women are coming off one of the most successful years in program history, during which the team tied the program record for wins in a season. The team finished with a 13-7 record and reached the Old Dominion Athletic Conference semifinals.
Junior Christina Harris (Falls Church, Va.) broke the program's career wins record this past fall and is currently ranked No. 32 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The 2019 season begins with an ODAC match at league-newcomer Ferrum on Saturday, Feb. 23.
March begins with a three-match homestand, non-conference contests with St. Mary's (Md.) (March 2) and York (Pa.) (March 3) bookending a Saturday, March 2 conference tilt with Guilford.
Lynchburg will pay a visit to Salem College on its way south for the Spring Break trip.
The Hornets will play one more home contest in March, welcoming Averett to Lakeside Drive on the 23rd of the month.
April consists entirely of ODAC competition, with Virginia Wesleyan (April 5) and Randolph-Macon (April 23) paying visits to Lynchburg. The Hornets will take roadtrips to Washington and Lee (April 2), Randolph (April 9), Hollins (April 13), Shenandoah (April 17), and Roanoke (April 18) during the busy final month of the regular season.
