LYNCHBURG, VA – After two days of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) outdoor track and field championships, the Lynchburg College women's team finished in second place with a total of 114.8 points in the competition.  Roanoke College took the team title with 145.3 points.

In the sprints, Aleshia Washington had one of the best days for a Hornet.  She led off for the 4x100 meter relay team that won the event.  Aleshia Washington, Margo Foley, Jasmyne Johnson, and Cat Wallace earned 10 points in a time of 49.86.  Aleshia Washington then went on to set the school-record in the 100 meter dash, winning in a time of 12.21.  She added a second-place finish in the 200 meter dash, with a time of 26.12.  For her efforts, Aleshia Washington was named Freshman of the Year.

The only person to finish ahead of Aleshia Washington in the 200 was Christina Washington.  Christina Washington grabbed the title in 25.92.  Lynchburg also sandwiched the podium in the 400 meter dash with Christina Washington taking the gold in 57.79 and Tracy Estelus securing the bronze in a career-best 1:00.7.

In the javelin competition, LC took three of the top four spots in the competition.  Leah Heal maintained her strong spring, winning the event 119'10.18".  Wallace took bronze and Amanda Walters finished fourth with throws of 91'3.27" and 90'4.64" respectively.  In other field events, Jill Dziewisz won the silver in the pole vault competition.  She reached a height of 9'8" on the afternoon.  Katie Kline tied for fifth, eclipsing 8'1" in the event.

For the last event of the meet, the Hornets finished fourth in the 4x400 meter relay race.  The team of Naomi Tice, Mel McFayden, Wallace, and Johnson finished in 4:06.32.
