Hornet Volleyball Loses in Four to Virginia Wesleyan

LYNCHBURG, VA – Kala Guy had 20 kills as Virginia Wesleyan College defeated Lynchburg College in four games, 33-31, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play on Wednesday night.

Sophomore Aricquel Payne led LC in kills with 15 and tallied a team-high 17 digs with four blocks. Senior Rebecca Loftis killed 11 balls with a .500 kill percentage and had five blocks, while senior Marion Lozano also blocked five balls and had seven kills. Freshman Gabby Myers recorded a team-high 23 assists for the Hornets, while freshman Sierra Strathy had five kills and led the team with eight blocks. Senior Rachel Turk had 19 assists and senior Molly Deacon had 15 digs. Freshman Samantha Page led the team in service aces with four.

Guy killed a team-high 20 balls, while Tempe Martens had 17 kills in the win for the Marlins (8-2).

The Hornets (6-3/1-1 ODAC) will travel to face off against Washington and Lee University on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in an ODAC matchup.
