Hornet Volleyball Completes Play at CNU

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The Lynchburg College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the Christopher Newport University Tournament.

Berry College (GA), a team that went 27-5 last year, defeated LC in the first match of the day 25-13, 25-22, 25-12. Sierra Strathy had a team-high eight kills for Lynchburg, while Aricquel Payne had seven kills and nine digs. Brittany Crawford contributed six kills and 19 digs and Gabby Myers had 13 assists. Mackenzie Ross added 11 assists and Sam Page had 11 digs.

Lynchburg hung tough in its last match of the tournament, dropping a four-game decision to SUNY New-Paltz 25-16, 27-25, 22-25, 25-22. Strathy had 14 kills and four blocks, Amanda Perry posted 10 kills and 15 digs, and Ross had seven kills, 23 assists and 14 digs. Gabby Myers tallied 18 assists and 14 digs and Page had 19 digs.

The Hornets will compete in the Johns Hopkins University Tournament Friday and Saturday.
