W&L Defeats LC Volleyball in Four

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Washington & Lee University volleyball team defeated Lynchburg College 25-19, 24-26, 25-22, 25-23 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action Wednesday evening.

The Hornets played one of the top teams in the conference tough, dropping the last two games by a total of five points. LC had a balanced offensive attack with Amanda Perry leading the way with 12 kills. Jennifer Garrett and Sierra Strathy each had 11 kills, Aricquel Payne slammed nine, while Gabby Myers had 25 assists and Mackenzie Ross added 13. Payne had a match-high 21 digs, Sam Page had 19 and Ross added 13 digs. Ross and Strathy each had five blocks.

M.A Boles and Courtney Freudenthal each had 13 kills for W&L (10-2/3-0 ODAC) and Meghan Meleski had 42 assists.

The Hornets (4-8/1-3 ODAC) host Randolph College next Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in another ODAC clash.
