Lynchburg Volleyball Falls in Championship for Second Straight Year

LEXINGTON, VA – The #3-seeded Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated the #7 seed, Bridgewater College in five sets 25-18, 25-22, 10-25, 19-25, 15-8 Saturday afternoon to advance to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship match.

The Hornets, winners of seven of their last eight matches, continued their hot play in the first two games against Bridgewater.

Amanda Perry led the way for the Hornets in the first game with seven of her team-high 16 kills in the match while hitting .500 on her attempts.

The Eagles challenged in game two, leading 14-10 early before LC went on a five-point run to take advantage. The Hornets got a kill each from Sierra Strathy and Jennifer Garrett while also using three Eagle errors to pull ahead 15-14. Another five-point comeback finished off the second set for LC.

Bridgewater, after upsetting #2 Randolph-Macon College, was not going down easily, picking up games three and four in easy fashion.

Lynchburg jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the fifth game thanks to a kill each from Strathy, Perry, and Gabby Myers. Two attack errors and a Strathy block put the Hornets ahead for good.

Garrett and Strathy joined Perry in double-figure kills with 13 and 11 respectively. Myers had 46 assists while Sam Page and Perry each had 13 digs.
