Glassboro, N.J. -- Three Lynchburg College cross country runners set personal bests at the Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan University, helping the Hornet women to a ninth-place team finish and the men to 17th at the Rowan Tech Park on Saturday morning.
Morgan Watson (Concord, Va.) and Abby May (Lynchburg, Va.) posted career-best 6k times on the women's side, finishing 33rd (22:57.6) and 59th (23:23.6), respectively. Watson's time made her the fourth-quickest 6k runner in program history, and May jumped up to seventh on the all-time leaderboard.
Samantha Schreiber (Gladys, Va.) led the way for Lynchburg, racing the course in 22:44.4 to finish 25th. Michela Cholak (Ocean Township, N.J.) came in 56th at 23:19.2 as the Hornet women placed ninth out of 26 teams with a total of 268 points.
On the men's side, Tristan Lucy-Speidel (Fort Valley, Va.) set the pace at 25:46.4 to place 43rd in the 8k race. Freshman Hunter Frizzell (Fredericksburg, Va.) tacked on a career best for his young career, coming in at 26:49.5.
The LC men were 17th out of 28 teams in the field.
The teams will be off next weekend before heading to Norfolk, Va. on Oct. 28 for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship Meet.
