Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg director of cross country and track & field Jim Sprecher and head cross country coach Jake Reed are pleased to unveil the 2018 schedule of meets for Lynchburg's men's and women's cross country teams.

With every major contributor back from last season's teams, the Hornets are poised to make a splash in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region again this year.

That road starts with a busy first weekend as the teams will travel to Appalachian State's Covered Bridge Classic in Boone, N.C. on Friday, Aug. 31.

After a weekend off, Lynchburg's teams will have busy September Saturdays with trips to Virginia Tech's Alumni Invitational, Shenandoah's Hornet Harrier Invitational, and Lehigh's Paul Short Invitational on consecutive weekends to finish out the month.

October brings with it the end of the regular season with out-of-state trips to Greensboro, N.C., for the Hagan Stone Classic on Saturday, Oct. 6 and Glassboro, N.J., for the Inter-Regional Border Battle hosted by Rowan Saturday, Oct. 13.

Lynchburg's runners will take another week off before heading back to Winchester, Va., for the ODAC championship meet Saturday, Oct. 27.

November's dates will be exclusively postseason affairs as the teams head to Mount Berry, Ga., for the South/Southeast Regional meet Saturday, Nov. 10 and, should they qualify, to Oshkosh, Wis., the following week for the Division III championship meet.

LynchburgSports.com and the Lynchburg Hornets Sports Network will continue to provide timely and quality coverage of Hornets cross country in 2018, including posting results and highlights as soon as they are available.
