Men's cross country takes second at Hagan Stone

Pleasant Garden, N.C. -- University of Lynchburg's men's cross country team finished second Saturday morning in the 8k race of Hagan Stone Classic, hosted by Southwest Guilford High School at Hagan Stone Park outside of Greensboro, N.C.

Sophomore Andrew Hawk (Coplay, Pa.) led the way for Lynchburg, crossing the line in 29:32.17 and in eighth place. Junior Neil Lucas (Alexandria, Va.) also carried a top-10 finish, finishing 10th at 30:01.68.

Sophomore Clint Turbeville (Wilmington, N.C.) also ran a solid race, placing 12th in 30:09.21.

Sophomore Austin Hodge (Glen Allen, Va.) and freshman Spencer Swam (Greencastle, Pa.) also competed for Lynchburg, finishing in 31:53.86 (19th) and 37:28.6 (24th), respectively.

Lynchburg wound up with a team score of 49 and finished only behind Methodist in the small field.

The Hornets will be back in action next weekend, traveling to Glassboro, N.J., for Rowan University's Inter-Regional Border Battle.
