Mark Robertson joined the staff at Lynchburg as sports information director in July 2017. He oversees the daily operations of the sports information department, directing athletic communications, statistical recording, and gameday operations for the Hornets' 23 NCAA Division III programs and the Lynchburg equestrian and cheer programs, along with maintenance of LynchburgSports.com.
Robertson spent the two years prior to his arrival covering Lynchburg and the rest of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference for The News & Advance, the daily newspaper in the Hill City. It was the latest stop in a newspaper career that allowed him to cover a variety of sports, outdoors, and breaking news for publications in Virginia and Montana.
He is a 2013 graduate of ODAC rival Emory & Henry College, where he majored in geography, history and mass communications and was a four-year member of the Wasps' baseball team. While at E&H, Robertson served as a student assistant in the sports information office for four years, writing press releases and game recaps, shooting photos, logging statistics, and assisting with other duties in the athletic department.
Robertson is an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America, and he currently serves on CoSIDA's Young Professionals Committee.
Outside of work and sports, Robertson is an avid fan of board and card games, boating, live music, photography, trailrunning, and zymurgy. He considers himself a connoisseur of hot dogs and Reuben sandwiches.
Robertson, a Roanoke native and graduate of Patrick Henry High School and the Roanoke Valley Governor's School, lives in Moneta with his partner, Eleanor, and their border collie, Bikini.
