The Lynchburg College athletic department each week showcases a question and answer feature with our Hornet of the Week. The 29th student-athlete selected this year is baseball sophomore Martin Henderlite.
Martin continued his reign of dominance over the ODAC this weekend. In the win over #25 Shenandoah University, he pitched seven scoreless innings, scattering seven hits. Martin struck out five batters while only walking two. For the season, he is 8-1, and has not given up a run since March 22.
What is your favorite moment thus far as a Hornet?
My favorite moment would have to be last season when we won the ODAC tournament and dog piled at Lynchburg City Stadium.
How did it feel to beat a top-25 team at their home this past weekend?
The win against the other Hornets at their place was a big win for the team. Their team was supposed to be hard to beat, but we came out and played our game and won. Every conference game is very important for us, so we come out on the field and try to get the job done, which we did.
Why did you choose Lynchburg College?
I chose this college because I wanted to play college baseball and the Lynchburg College campus looked really nice.
How do you think being a student-athlete has affected you personally in your time at LC?
Playing for the baseball team and going to classes can be difficult at times with some heavy workloads. I always keep busy with baseball and classwork.
