Hampden-Sydney, Va. -- The Lynchburg College baseball team suffered a 9-1 defeat at Hampden-Sydney on the road Wednesday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play.
The Tigers jumped out to an early three-run lead and held on to secure a season-series split with Lynchburg, which won Tuesday's installation.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Hampden-Sydney jumped on top early with two runs in the bottom of the first against LC starter David Goulding (Lynchburg, Va.), only one of which was earned. The Tigers tacked on another in the third for an early 3-0 advantage.
After Stevens drew a leadoff walk in the top of the fifth and advanced to second on a single by senior first baseman Brad Hylton (Danville, Va.). Harris later drove Stevens in with an RBI groundout.
H-SC broke the game open with six more runs over the next three innings, while the Hornets managed just one more hit, a sixth-inning double by sophomore third baseman Colin Corey (Springfield, Va.)
Lynchburg continues its run through the ODAC schedule Saturday, April 14 at Virginia Wesleyan. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for noon in Virginia Beach, Va.
