HOW IT HAPPENED
Lynchburg scored a first-inning run as Lane slugged a one-out double and scored on Jackson's RBI single.
Hornets starter Ryan Irby (Midlothian, Va.) tossed five shutout innings to hold the Pride at bay, but the bullpen couldn't hold on. GC scored three runs in the sixth to take the lead and added four more in the seventh.
Jackson tripled down the line, again scoring Lane from first, in the bottom of the seventh for Lynchburg's second run.
The Pride added three more runs in the ninth to polish off the rout.
The Hornets will resume Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Wednesday, April 17 with a trip to Hampden-Sydney. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
