HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets rallied for six runs in the fifth, taking the lead on Alvanos' two-out, two-run single to left.
Lynchburg added three more runs in the sixth, taking advantage of a pair of Greensboro fielding errors, and scored twice more in the seventh on an RBI fielder's choice by freshman right fielder Brenden McDonald (Virginia Beach, Va.).
Three Hornet relievers -- sophomore right-hander Michael Reiskind (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Wood and senior right-hander Wesley Steelman (Glen Allen, Va.) -- held Greensboro scoreless after the second inning.
