Equestrian starts season with fourth-place finish at Randolph IHSA

Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg College equestrian team had its season opener at the Randolph College IHSA on Saturday, finishing fourth with a team total of 28 points. Randolph took home the championship earning 40 points at the Randolph Riding Center, and Hollins University behind them with 32.
Christina Antonucci (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) started the day with a win in Open Fences and a second-place finish Open Flat for Lynchburg. She later participated in a five-way tiebreaker for Reserve High Point Rider, ultimately winning that title as well.
Dani Herzberg (Beachwood, Ohio) and CarolAnne Bekus (Hillsborough, N.J.) both competed in Intermediate Fences, earning third and fifth, respectively. Herzberg also had a strong ride in Novice Flat, finishing second, and Bekus rode to fourth in Intermediate Flat.
Sarah Schweitzer (Middletown, Conn.), Gina Romano (Chester, N.J.), and Missy Green (Vienna, Va.) also competed in the Novice division for Lynchburg. Romano finished fourth on the flat, and Missy Green began her Hornet career with a third on the flat.
Lauren Barbee (Mebane, N.C.) and Brooke Lindgren (Richmond, Va.) both had great rides in Walk/Trot/Canter, finishing third in their respective sections. Maya Proctor (Fort Washington, Md.) also competed in the division, finishing in sixth.
Paige Gaut (Spotsylvania, Va.) and Erika Hadland (Richmond, Va.) finished up the day for the Hornets in Walk/Trot. Gaut rode to a fourth place finish and Hadland finished in sixth.
