Lynchburg, Va.-- The Lynchburg equestrian team traveled to Bridgewater College, where they competed against eight schools at Saturday's IHSA show. The University of Virginia came out on top with 37 points, followed by Randolph with 34. The Hornets finished fifth overall with 25 points.
Christina Antonucci (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) began the day for the Hornets, competing in the Open division. Antonucci brought in the only win for the Hornets, finishing on top in section B of open over fences and finishing fifth on the flat. CarolAnne Bekus (Hillsborough, N.J.) followed, competing in Intermediate Over Fences and Intermediate Flat. Bekus finished fourth in section B of the flat and fifth in section B over fences.
The Hornets had four riders representing them in the Novice division. Competing on the flat were Dani Herzberg (Beachwood, Ohio), Claire Keeling (Managua, Nicaragua), and Missy Green (Vienna, Va.). Herzberg finished third in section B on the flat, Keeling finished in fifth in section C, and Green finished reserve in section B. Burke Kelleher (Lynchburg, Va.) competed in section B of novice over fences, finishing in fifth.
Also competing were Julia Cavagna (Stafford, Va.), Becca Reid (Middletown, Del.), and Christy Lemay (Midlothian, Va.). Cavagna brought home a third for the Hornets in section A of Walk-Trot-Canter and Lemay finished in sixth in section B. Ending the day were Walk-Trot riders Paige Gaut (Spotsylvania, Va.) and Erika Hadland (Moseley, Va.). Gaut finished in sixth and Hadland finished in fourth.
