Amherst, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's equestrian team turned in a seventh-place finish Saturday at the fall edition of the Lynchburg Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association event, hosted by the Hornets at the Harriet Howell Rogers Riding Center.
Lynchburg tallied up 22 points over the course of the show, and senior Paige Gaut (Spotsylvania, Va.) and junior Dani Herzberg (Beachwood, Ohio) both qualified for IHSA regionals. Gaut's first-place finish in Walk Trot cemented her regional entry, while Herzberg placed sixth in Intermediate Flat to meet the qualifying point threshold in that event. Herzberg was also sixth over Open Fences.
Freshman Taylor Herzog (Williamsburg, Va.) won the Open Fences for Lynchburg's only other blue ribbon of the day.
Freshman Kelsey Brady (Mansfield, Mass.) claimed fourth place over Novice Fences, while freshman Dana Collings (McLean, Va.) and sophomore Katelyn Shull (Warrenton, Va.) tied for fourth in Advanced Walk Trot Canter.
University of Virginia tallied the most points on the day with 35, narrowly edging James Madison and Hollins -- which were tied at 34 -- for first in the team standings.
