Virginia Beach, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's field hockey team wrapped up home-field advantage throughout the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament Wednesday with a 3-1 league win at Virginia Wesleyan.
Lynchburg controlled the entire game, out-shooting the Marlins, 34-2, and holding a 19-4 advantage on penalty corners. The Hornets defense didn't allow a shot in the second half.
The VWU goal put an end to Lynchburg's three-game shutout streak, but the Hornets have now won eight straight.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind in the third minute, Lynchburg tied it up with Dudley's goal in the 20th minute on an assist by freshman midfielder Kaylie Truitt (Lewes, Del.)
Simpao scored in the 21st minute on an assist by sophomore forward Jackie Lerro (Royersford, Pa.) to give Lynchburg a 2-1 lead at the half.
In the 67th minute, Simpao gave the Hornets some insurance with an assist from sophomore defender Alexis Brown (Culpeper, Va.).
Lynchburg will return home to Shellenberger Field Saturday, Oct. 27 for its last regular-season game. The Senior Day matchup with Washington and Lee will begin at 1 p.m.
