HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets took an early 11-0 lead against the WildCats, but both teams buckled down defensively after the run. Randolph managed to close the gap after a critical 3 by Sammy Hooper tied the game, 20-20.
Both teams earned two more baskets keeping the tie even at 24-24 until Randolph guard Brian Smith made a last-second layup to give Randolph the advantage going into the second half.
Several minutes into the second half, Lynchburg was down 35-29 until a steal by senior guard Devante' Young (Charlotte, N.C.) led to a fast-break basket by Wrighten which sparked a 17-2 Lynchburg run.
Lynchburg will break for Thanksgiving before the Hornets continue the conference season Sunday, Nov. 25 in Turner Gym against the Eastern Mennonite Royals at 2 p.m.
