Forest, Va. -- For the second-consecutive week, University of Lynchburg senior Austin Wrighten (Woodbridge, Va.) earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's men's basketball player of the week honor, the league announced Monday afternoon.
The wing helped Lynchburg to a 1-1 week, averaging 27 points and 13.5 rebounds per game as the Hornets fell, 82-78, at Guilford on Wednesday but rebounded for a 78-76 non-conference road win at Methodist Saturday afternoon.
Wrighten had 25 points and 15 rebounds Wednesday before dumping in a career-high 29 points to go with 12 rebounds over the weekend. Saturday's effort was his fourth-straight double-double.
He is currently ranked fifth in the ODAC in scoring average (16.6) and third in rebounding average (9.8), leading Lynchburg in both categories.
Lynchburg's men's basketball team is currently 8-1 and 3-1 in ODAC play. The Hornets earned the first-ever national ranking for the program, checking in at No. 22 on last week's D3hoops.com poll.
