Greensboro, N.C. -- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team defeated the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum, 75-66, in the first matchup of the Guilford College Classic Saturday afternoon.
Senior wing Austin Wrighten (Woodbridge, Va.) went 10-for-12 at the free throw line, earning 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Senior guard Jesse Case (Leesburg, Va.) racked up 15 points against the Muskies going 3-for-5 from behind arc along with three assists and five rebounds. Junior guard Chance Greene (Creedmoor, N.C.) and senior forward Connor Schroeder (Blacksburg, Va.) each contributed 10 points of their own to the Hornets.
Sophomore forward T.C. Thacker (Madison Heights, Va.) also collected 11 rebounds under the basket.
Lynchburg's men's basketball team continues the best start in program history, moving to 10-1 on the young season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lynchburg dominated the beginning of the first half, getting a 22-9 lead after nine minutes of play. Muskingum closed the gap and ended the half on a 10-0 run; Lynchburg led 30-29 at the break as Wrighten collected 14 of his points before halftime.
The game stayed close after the half until Case sank back-to-back 3s, followed by a layup from senior guard Devante' Young (Charlotte, N.C.), pushing Lynchburg ahead, 43-37.
The Fighting Muskies fought back tied the game at 64 with 2:26 left in the game. Case quickly responded with another 3-pointer to put the Hornets ahead for good. Lynchburg put the game away at the free-throw line, going 6-for-10 in the final minute of the game at the stripe.
The Hornets will face Greensboro College Sunday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. in the Ragan-Brown Field House to wrap up the Guilford College Classic.
