HOW IT HAPPENED
Lynchburg grabbed the lead early with the first eight points of the game, split between sophomore forward Reggie Davis (Greensboro, N.C.) and Schroeder. Bridgewater steadily came back to tie it up 17-17. The teams stayed within a six point range of each other until the game's end. The Hornets led 35-34 at half.
- The second half was tight until Bridgewater began a 9-2 run with 6:11 to go, opening a 75-69 advantage.
Schroeder's clutch free throws with 1:01 remaining cut the BC lead to 80-76, and the Hornet defense forced a miss on the opposite end. After a missed 3, Wrighten pulled down the rebound to give Lynchburg a second chance, and senior guard Devante' Young (Charlotte, N.C.) quickly drew a foul. Young hit the front end of his free throws and missed the second, the rebound coming to Bridgewater.
- The Hornets had two chances at a game-tying 3 in the waning seconds but couldn't get the long shot to fall.
Lynchburg will travel to Ferrum on Wednesday, Feb. 6 for an ODAC contest against the Panthers at 7 p.m., which will follow a 5 p.m. tip between the Ferrum and Lynchburg women's teams.
