Men's basketball celebrates Senior Day with blowout victory

Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team celebrated Senior Day with a 96-70 victory over Shenandoah Saturday evening in the final home date of 2018-19.

Sophomore forward Reggie Davis (Greensboro, N.C.) led the Hornets with a career-high 20 points, hitting four shots from behind the arc.

Senior wing Austin Wrighten (Woodbridge, Va.) reached a double-double for the 11th time this season with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Senior forward Connor Schroeder (Blacksburg, Va.) racked up 18 points along with seven rebounds and two assists, and senior guard Devante' Young (Charlotte, N.C.) earned nine points, seven assists, and two steals. Junior guard Chance Greene (Creedmoor, N.C.) added 17 points and five assists.

Prior to the game, Lynchburg honored its six seniors: Deitrich Brown (Farmville, Va.), Jesse Case (Leesburg, Va.), Schroeder, Wrighten, Young, and team manager Aaron Nedd.

  • Lynchburg jumped all over the visitors in the early going, starting the game on a 10-0 run and expanding the lead to 29-9 by midway through the first half. The hosts led 48-32 at halftime, bolstered by 11 points off the bench by Greene.

  • Shenandoah pulled to within 11 early in the second half, but back-to-back 3s by Davis and Young silenced any hope. Davis scored 15 of his game-high 20 in the second half.



Lynchburg will finish off the regular season with a Wednesday, Feb. 13 trip east to Hampden-Sydney. Tipoff against the Tigers will be at 7 p.m.
