Forest, Va. -- University of Lynchburg junior Tharon Suggs was tabbed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's men's basketball player of the week, the ODAC office announced Monday.
Suggs is the first Hornet to win the weekly award from the conference this season. He did so with a 50-point performance in Lynchburg's 91-80 victory over Pfeiffer on Saturday Nov. 16 in the Hornets' first home contest of the year. He went 16-for-30 in field goals and was almost perfect from the free throw line, going 13-for-14. Suggs is only the second Lynchburg player to record 50-plus points in a game.
In Lynchburg's three games last week, Suggs averaged 27.3 points-per-game to help the Hornets to three straight wins over N.C. Wesleyan, Pfeiffer, and Methodist.
Lynchburg's men's basketball team will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 22 as the Hornets travel to host, Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va. to take on the Eagles of Mary Washington University in a 5 p.m. game to open up the CAC/ODAC Challenge.
