Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg athletics and head men's lacrosse coach Steve Koudelka are excited to unveil the Hornets' 2019 game schedule.
Lynchburg will again face one of the toughest NCAA Division III schedules in the nation in the team's chase for an eighth-straight national tournament appearance, with eight games against 2018 NCAA qualifiers.
Following a Feb. 3 scrimmage at Division I Virginia, the gauntlet of a non-conference schedule begins right away with a Feb. 9 matchup against 12-time national champion Salisbury at 1 p.m. on Shellenberger Field.
The schedule also boasts dates with perennial powers Franklin & Marshall and Cabrini, Feb. 16 and Feb. 23, respectively.
March is again full of tests for the Hornets, beginning with a March 2 battle at York. The Hornets will open their Old Dominion Athletic Conference schedule a week later with a March 9 date at Bridgewater before hitting the out-of-league trail again.
The team will head to the U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Fame in Sparks, Md., March 10 for a date with Elizabethtown, and the Hornets will head back to Maryland the following weekend for the Mustang Classic, where they'll play Stevenson and defending national champion Wesleyan March 15 and 16.
The rest of the way is full of ODAC battles, highlighted by an April 5 date versus Roanoke -- a Friday evening affair on Shellenberger -- April 20 at Washington and Lee, and April 27 at home versus Hampden-Sydney as primers for the postseason.
Lynchburg enters 2019 fresh off the program's seventh ODAC championship and 12th NCAA tournament appearance, including a bid each year since 2012.
