Baltimore, Md. -- Three University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse seniors earned Preseason All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse, the media outlet announced in its 2019 Face-Off Yearbook this week.
Long-stick midfielder Seamus McDonald (Far Hills, N.J.) took a spot on the second-team, while midfielder Nick Willertz (Severn, Md.) earned third-team honors, and attackman Evan Lombardo (Franklin Park, N.J.) got an honorable mention.
Lombardo and McDonald were both honorable mention All-Americans as juniors a season ago, and all three were first-team All-South Region picks in 2018.
McDonald tallied four goals and four assists as Lynchburg's LSM last season while playing a key role in the Hornets defense as well.
Willertz, a short-stick defensive midfielder, also picked up four goals and four assists. He had a knack for the big game, with more than half of his points coming against ranked opponents.
Lombardo proved one of the most productive offensive players in Division III last season, leading the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with 66 goals while also chipping in 12 assists.
Inside Lacrosse ranked Lynchburg No. 19 in its recently released 2019 preseason poll. The Hornets won the ODAC championship and reached the program's 12th NCAA tournament in 2018.
