No. 19 men's lacrosse uses late run to top Stevenson

Lynchburg men's lacrosse players celebrate a goal

Owings Mills, Md. -- With three goals in the final 3 minutes, the 19th-ranked University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team earned a come-from-behind road win over No. 20 Stevenson, 11-9, Friday night on the opening day of the Mustang Classic.

Senior midfielder Rivington Lambert (Lake Wylie, S.C.) scored for the Hornets with 2:10 to play to tie the game, 9-9, and junior attackman Trammel Robinson (Memphis, Tenn.) scored the go-ahead goal with 1:32 remaining.

Junior midfielder Kevin Rogers (Leesburg, Va.) led Lynchburg's offense with three goals and an assist, while junior defender Tyler Gallagher (Palmyra, Pa.) anchored the defense with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Senior goalie Patrick Cornelius (Potomac, Md.) saved 10 of the 19 shots that came his way.

Lynchburg won the game despite trailing from midway through the second quarter until late in the fourth but survived all four man-down situations in the contest without allowing a goal. The Hornets also overcame a 6-for-24 deficit at the faceoff.
