Indianapolis, Ind. -- University of Lynchburg's men's lacrosse team earned an at-large bid to the 2019 NCAA Division III tournament, the NCAA announced Sunday evening during its tournament selection show.
The Hornets (13-6) will play host to Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference champion Transylvania (14-4) in the second round of the tournament Wednesday on Lynchburg's Shellenberger Field at 6 p.m.
Tickets for the game are $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Lynchburg athletics will cover the cost of tickets for current Lynchburg students, faculty and staff who present their university ID at the gate. All ticket sales will take place at the gate.
The two schools have never met in men's lacrosse.
Lynchburg is currently ranked 20th in the USILA coaches' poll and reached the Old Dominion Athletic Conference final for the sixth-straight season in 2019. The Hornets were the runners-up in this weekend's conference tournament.
It is the eighth-consecutive NCAA tournament appearance for Lynchburg's men's lacrosse program and the 13th in program history. Lynchburg is 10-12 all-time in the national tournament and finished as the runner-up in 2015.
