Louisville, Ky. -- Four University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse players landed spots on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's Division III All-America teams, the USILA announced Thursday morning.
Junior midfielder Kevin Rogers (Leesburg, Va.) won a spot on the second-team, Lynchburg's first player rated that high on the national honor roll since 2015. Junior defender Tyler Gallagher (Palmyra, Pa.), senior long-stick midfielder Seamus McDonald (Far Hills, N.J.) and senior defender Matt Meadows (Lynchburg, Va.) won honorable mention nods at their respective positions.
Rogers ranked first on the Lynchburg team and fifth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in points (78) and second on the Hornets in goals (47) and assists (31). All of those marks were career-highs for the midfielder, who scored a point in every game this season. He was ODAC player of the week April 29 and named to the Division III team of the week Feb. 12.
Gallagher helped anchor Lynchburg's back line, ranking third on the team in caused turnovers (16) and fifth in ground balls (40). He was also the athletic department's 2018 Male Academic Athlete of the Year.
McDonald led the Hornets in caused turnovers (29) and was second on the club in ground balls (79), serving as a key winger on the face-off corps as well as the long-stick midfielder. The honorable mention nod is the second of his career.
Meadows was also a key player on the Lynchburg defense, ranking second on the team with 18 caused turnovers to go with 29 ground balls.
All four players were first-team All-ODAC selections.
Lynchburg's men's lacrosse team finished the 2019 season with a 14-7 record, 9-1 in the ODAC, and earned the program's eighth-straight NCAA tournament berth. The Hornets won a game in the tournament to reach the Round of 16.
