Lynchburg, Va. -- Carter Averette notched a goal and an assist, Luke Mega and Abibi Osman both found the back of the net, and University of Lynchburg's men's soccer team celebrated Homecoming with a 3-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory over Eastern Mennonite Saturday evening.
Averette assisted Mega's seventh-minute goal to give the Hornets (5-4-5, 2-1-2 ODAC) an early lead, and Lynchburg added two second-half goals to pull away. Averette scored, unassisted, in the 53rd minute, and Osman stormed into the box to finish a cross from Michael Lyons in the 61st.
Leiyan Kariuki put the Royals (5-11, 0-5) on the board in the 88th minute to bring the score to its final tally.
Lynchburg will be back in action at home Wednesday, Oct. 23 as Shenandoah comes to Shellenberger Field for an ODAC match.
