Fredericksburg, Va. -- Lynchburg College sophomore Juan Borga (Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA) made program history for the Hornet men's tennis program Monday, becoming Lynchburg's first-ever representative on the Virginia Sports Information Directors' College Division All-State men's tennis teams.

Borga was named to the second team, capping off the awards season for a terrific second year on Lakeside Drive.

He posted a 10-5 record in singles play this season, all at No. 1, and went 7-2 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. Borga partnered with junior Colton Mullins (Appomattox, Va.) for a 4-4 mark at No. 3 doubles. He earned second-team All-ODAC honors at both singles and doubles.

The Hornet men finished the season with a 9-10 record overall, the program's most wins since 2003, and the Hornets finished 5-5 in conference play.

Washington and Lee sophomore Harry Shepherd took the All-State player of the year honor, while Mary Washington swept the other superlatives. The Eagles' Cole Tecce was voted the league's top rookie and Todd Helbling earned the coach of the year honor.

The organization of athletic communications professionals has been naming All-State men's tennis teams annually since 2006.
