Hornet Cross Country Teams Unveil 2016 Schedule
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men's and women's cross country teams unveiled their 2016 schedules Wednesday, with eight potential meets on the slate.
The season opens across town on Friday, September 2 at the Randolph College Relay Race. The men's teams will compete first in the unique competition, called a Hokum Karem, with each team putting at least three pairs of racers in the meet. It will be a relay, with each runner alternating one-mile loops, for a total of five miles per racer and 10 per pair. The team winner will be decided by the top-three pairs' total time. The women's relay will follow, with the only difference being the total distance. Each individual will only run three miles, and a pair will complete six miles.
The Old Dominion Athletic Conference Preview Meet, hosted by Washington & Lee University, is next on September 9, and the Generals will also host the conference championships in late October. Trips to Pennsylvania and Ohio also dot the schedule, as well as the NCAA South/Southeast regional Championships at Berry College (GA).
