Lynchburg, Va. -- The eighth-ranked University of Lynchburg softball team suffered a doubleheader sweep Saturday at the hands of two-time defending NCAA Division III champion and No. 2-ranked Virginia Wesleyan.
VWU took the ODAC contests by scores of 1-0 and 7-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lynchburg managed just two hits against two-time national pitcher of the year Hanna Hull. Sophomore center fielder Haylee Wood (Goode, Va.) broke up the no-hitter with a one-out single in the fifth.
VWU took the lead in the second on an RBI single by Danielle Stewart.
The Hornets got two runners aboard with two outs in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't get the tying run across.
Sophomore right-hander Kayley Cox (Yorktown, Va.) pitched well in the loss, allowing the one run on four hits. She struck out two.
Virginia Wesleyan took a 2-0 lead in the first and added to it in the second, fourth, and fifth innings to lead, 7-0.
Lynchburg rallied in the sixth, scoring on a passed ball and Wood's RBI single to bring the score to its final standing.
The Hornets will hit the road Thursday, April 11 for another ODAC doubleheader at Roanoke College. Games at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex are set to start at 5 p.m.
