Forest, Va. -- Six University of Lynchburg softball players earned All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference honors, the league announced Wednesday morning with its annual awards.

Two Hornet seniors -- first baseman Mackenzie Chitwood (Ferrum, Va.) and third baseman Taylor Mabry (Bassett, Va.) -- earned spots on the All-ODAC first team.

Three more Lynchburg infielders -- senior catcher Brittany Coffey (Manassas, Va.), junior second baseman Sarah Commons (Glen Allen, Va.) and junior shortstop Kayla Hugate (Chesterfield, Va.) -- were second-team honorees, and junior pitcher Alex Cisar (Sykesville, Md.) earned a third-team spot.

Senior pitcher Taylor Belknap (Arden, N.C.) won a share of the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor.

The All-ODAC honor was the second for Chitwood in her career. She has tied or set new single-season program records in home runs (17) and RBI (62) and leads Division III in both categories at present. She also holds Lynchburg's and the ODAC's career home runs record with 40. Chitwood was ODAC player of the week thrice this season.

Mabry moved up to the first team after earning second-team honors as a junior and third-team as a sophomore. The power-hitting third baseman has a career-high 13 home runs to go with 33 RBI and a .395 batting average.

Coffey also earned her third-career All-ODAC honor, thanks in part to her .313 average, six home runs and 33 RBI. A tremendous defensive catcher, she leads the conference with 19 runners caught stealing.

Commons became a three-time honoree, playing stellar second base along with her .404 average in conference play. She's hit seven doubles on the year and scored 28 runs.

Hugate's third consecutive second-team all-conference award came thanks to a .355 average and a team-high 12 stolen bases. The Lynchburg leadoff hitter leads the ODAC with 44 runs scored.

Cisar cracked into the all-conference list for the first time in her career after a tremendous season in the circle. The right-hander is third in the league in ERA (1.86) and sports a 15-4 record with one save.

Lynchburg has seen six or more players named All-ODAC in four of the last five seasons.

Belknap is Lynchburg softball's first scholar-athlete honoree since 2014. The right-hander carries a 9-3 record with two saves and a 2.93 ERA in 22 appearances this season. A political science and philosophy double-major, she will be headed to University of North Carolina's School of Law in the fall.

Guilford's Makayla Carver took the conference's player of the year honor, while Virginia Wesleyan southpaw Hanna Hull earned the pitcher of the year award for the third-straight season. Marlins head coach Brandon Elliott was named coach of the year.

Emory & Henry outfielder Anna Thomas took top rookie honors, and Belknap split the scholar-athlete award with Guilford junior Natalie Conrad.

Lynchburg carried a 32-12 record through last weekend's ODAC tournament and will hope to make a return trip to the NCAA tournament this season. The Hornets will learn if that's the case Monday, May 6 at 1 p.m., when the NCAA announces its 2019 field. Lynchburg is currently ranked fifth in the Atlantic Region.
