Indianapolis, Ind. -- The 2019 softball season will continue for University of Lynchburg.
The NCAA bestowed an at-large bid to the Division III national tournament on the Hornets during its Monday-afternoon selection show.
It is the seventh time in program history that Lynchburg will be NCAA bound and the second-straight year the team has earned a berth.
Lynchburg (32-12) will head to the Virginia Beach Regional, where the Hornets will take on MAC Freedom champion and No. 15-ranked Manhattanville (40-2).
The pod will be hosted by Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Virginia Wesleyan University. The No. 1-ranked Marlins (40-4) and Landmark Conference champion Scranton (32-13) in the regional's other first-round contest.
Lynchburg is 8-13 all-time in the NCAA tournament and reached the national championship weekend in 2008.
