Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's men's and women's track & field teams continued their strong starts to the indoor season at the 2019 Liberty Kickoff just a few miles from campus at the Liberty University Indoor Track Complex this weekend.
The Hornet teams combined for two season-best marks in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference at the meet and five new entries in the program's all-time top 10 lists.
Junior Reid Sharkey (Fairfax, Va.) highlighted the day on the men's side, running the season's fastest 1-mile in the ODAC, coming in at 4:20.41 to finish 12th in the race. That time ranks ninth all-time for the Hornet men.
Freshman Max Sparks (Canton, Conn.) also shone in a mid-distance event, busting out a 2:39.85 1,000-meter run to also finish 12th.
For the women, senior Endasia Mitchell (Perry Hall, Md.) also claimed top honors on the ODAC leaderboard Saturday, running a 2:21.06 800-meter race to finish eighth and put her name fifth on the Hornets' all-time leaderboard. Mitchell also ran a season-best 27.21-second 200-meter dash.
