Indianapolis, Ind. -- University of Lynchburg sophomore Julian Douglas (Lynchburg, Va.) qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet in the men's long jump, the NCAA announced Saturday with the full national field.
Douglas enters the national meet ranked No. 21 in Division III in the event, a personal-best of 23-6 ¼ he set May 12 at the VCU Final Qualifier. The NCAA takes the top 20 qualifiers in each men's event, but Douglas moved into the field after another athlete scratched from the long jump.
He will compete on the first day of the meet, Thursday, May 23, at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The jump is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday.
With a top-eight finish in the event, Douglas can become the 50th All-American in the history of Lynchburg men's outdoor track & field.
