Geneva, Ohio -- University of Lynchburg sophomore Julian Douglas (Lynchburg, Va.) leapt to 17th place in the men's long jump Thursday afternoon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Douglas' second jump was his scoring bound, a 22-foot, 9-inch leap that put him into 17th.

Lynchburg's only 2019 outdoor national qualifier, he entered the event seeded 19th.

John Carroll's Hayden Snow won the event with a 26-1 ¾ jump.

Douglas was the first Lynchburg long jumper to compete in the event at nationals since Evan Truman in 2017.

He finishes the season ranked fifth on Lynchburg's all-time leaderboard in the long jump with his season-best 23-6 ¼ jump, set earlier this month at the VCU Final Qualifier.
