Forest, Va. -- Sophomore sprinter Alex Shadkhoo captured the first Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's indoor track athlete of the week award for the 2019-20 season, the ODAC office announced Monday afternoon.
The Herndon native and former rookie of the year took home a first-place finish in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes in the Hornets' opening meet at Roanoke College Saturday.
The sophomore entered his name into the record books as he ran a 22.47 in the 200-meter dash to place him sixth on the all-time top 10 list, besting his previous mark by one one-hundredth of a second. Later in the meet, Shadkhoo took home first place in the 60-meter dash with a mark of 7.06.
The award is the second ODAC runner of the week accolade for Shadkhoo, who also claimed the honor March 11.
