Lynchburg WBB Cruises to 83-63 Win over R-MC
Goldsmith broke the record on a short feed in the paint to freshman Molly Shephard with 1:34 left in the first half. She now holds the school's top assist marks for a game, a season, and a career.
Both offenses took a few minutes to get untracked, and the score was tied at six all five minutes in. The contest was eight apiece a minute later and LC closed out the first period on a 9-0 run to forge a 17-8 lead after one. The Hornets quickly extended the advantage to double figures in the second stanza and never looked back.
Senior forward Chaney Forbush posted her eighth double double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and also added a pair of blocked shots. Charmaine Hairston had 13 points and three steals and Olivia DeFrancesco recorded 11 points and six assists. Goldsmith had six points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals, Shephard netted 10 points and Sarah Coronel tallied eight points and five offensive rebounds. Caroline Naumann had seven points and six rebounds.
Hannah Livermon drilled five three pointers to finish with a game-high 19 points for Randolph-Macon (9-11/5-7 ODAC). Katie Anderson had 16 points and Khajae Hester scored 12. Lynchburg out-rebounded the Yellow Jackets 52-28.
The Hornets (17-4/10-2) travel to Emory & Henry College Tuesday for another ODAC game at 7 p.m.
