Lynchburg, Va. -- For an unprecedented third week in a row, the Women's Basketball team has had a player named the Hornet of the Week after junior Olivia DeFrancesco was named the recipient of the honor on Tuesday.
The Greensboro, N.C. native helped the Hornets to a 1-1 record at the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn. on Dec. 29-30. In the first game against Marymount (Va.) University, DeFrancesco scored 12 points while recording three assists, three steals and three rebounds. On the second day of the tournament, she led the team with 14 points as the Hornets ended 2016 with a victory over Stevenson University.
The Communications major is averaging 7.6 points, 4.0 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 30.4 minutes per game.
The Women's Basketball squad begin the heart of their conference schedule with the arrival of the New Year, facing off against Guilford College on Wednesday, Jan. 4th. The Quakers are averaging 78.1 points/game, best in the conference.
