Bridgewater, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's basketball team used a big third period to pull away from host Bridgewater Saturday afternoon, besting the Eagles, 77-68, to earn a key Old Dominion Athletic Conference win on the road.
Senior forward Molly Shephard (Charlottesville, Va.) piled up 27 points and 11 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season, while freshman forward Erin Green (Poolesville, Md.) poured in a career-high 21 points. Green was 3-for-5 from 3-point territory in the win.
Sophomore guard Carolyn Noe (Fairfax, Va.) chipped in 13 points and five rebounds.
Briana Moore led the Eagles with 25 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing by a point in the early going, Green sank back-to-back 3-pointers midway through the quarter to help Lynchburg to a 10-5 lead, and the Hornets led the rest of the way.
Lynchburg led by as many as 10 in the second period, but the Eagles closed the half on a 10-3 run to cut the deficit to 35-32 at the midway point.
The Hornets scored the first eight points of the third to open the lead back up. Noe's jumper on Lynchburg's last possession of the penultimate period gave the visitors their biggest lead of the game, 57-43.
Lynchburg maintained the lead through the fourth, never letting BC cut the score closer than seven points.
The Hornets will head to Randolph College Wednesday, Jan. 23 for another ODAC date with the WildCats at 7 p.m. Lynchburg won the first installment of the rivalry Dec. 5 by an 80-54 final.
